I’m thrilled to launch my latest book, Can I Belong to You, a middle grade children’s book featuring my two cats, one a stray and the other a shelter, as they navigate belonging to and living in their new forever home, Maw and Paw Paw’s backyard, porch, and house.
I’m passionate about this book because I spent my career working with marginalized children with special needs and know first-hand the trauma of not having one’s needs met.
Children can relate to the animal characters in the story and will see themselves depicted in the intricately detailed, whimsical, and realistic illustrations. The pictures are just as important as the text in promoting discussion about the need to belong. The intended audience is middle-grade readers or younger readers, if read aloud.
The story is based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and would be appropriate for use in the classroom, counselor’s office, adoption and foster programs, teacher training, and most importantly, for the sheer pleasure and enjoyment of reading.
Wouldn’t this charming book be a great gift for your children and/or grands?
Included is the Amazon link for purchase in e-form, soft cover, and hardback. Please write a review on Amazon after reading. I would also like to hear back from you here on my website, or on my Facebook page. Cordially, forward to friends and family.
Sincerely,
Sheila
