August in Texas is the hottest month of the year. Yesterday, it was 107 in my backyard! The kids either have already started back to school or will so this week and will night a refreshing snack when they tumble out of the school bus, hot, sweaty, and exhausted.
I love baking cakes, especially bundt cakes!
We’ve had several days of April showers which have kept our Texas spring temperatures on the cool side. With this wet, cool weather, I start craving Tex Mex food, but definitely don’t want to go out!
I enjoy experimenting with making different versions of an old fashioned pound cake, especially since I have fresh eggs everyday from my chickens.
As I’ve said many times before, I plan our meals around what vegetables are in season and what is growing in my backyard.
I’ve been watching Christmas baking shows and am inspired by the talented cookie decorators who create absurdly intricate designs. I say to myself, “I can do that!”
