I read a hilarious quote on facebook about the changing seasons in Texas. The statement went something like this: “You can tell it’s autumn in Texas when the leaves turn brown and shrivelled. They fall off of the trees from heat exhaustion!”

Yes, it’s pretty funny because it’s so true! The only way we feel the crisp, cool fall weather is when a cold front blows down and the “norther” plummets the temperatures from the 90s to the 40s within hours. As soon as we get that first breath of cool weather, out come the sweaters and hot drinks, whether we really need them or not!

You don’t have to trek to your nearest coffee shop and plunk down an exorbitant amount of money to savour your favorite hot drink. I have an easy Cappuccino recipe you can mix up and enjoy from home. Your friends will be impressed when you serve them an a-la-carte cuppa laced with their favorite autumnal spice. Mix all ingredients and store in an airtight container. Use two teaspoons more or less per mug of hot water, depending on how strong you like it.

What is your favorite hot beverage?

1 cup powdered instant dairy creamer

1 cup of cocoa

2/3 cup instant coffee granules

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Cappuccino Mix
