Nothing screams fall like warm caramel sauce! With the hint of cooler weather to come and the first leaves turning, I mentally switch to imagining the flavors of fall. One of those is the decadent, ooey-gooey, satisfying mouthfeel of caramel sauce.
Caramel sauce is made to be slowly savored over icecream, used aa dip for apples and vanilla wafers, or poured over popcorn.
I have an easy caramel sauce recipe that only has four ingredients:
1 cup heavy cream
2/3 cup butter (no substitutes will do!)
2 cups brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla
Combine the first three ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer for five minutes on medium to low heat stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. That’s it!
What’s your favorite under-body for caramel sauce?
That time of year thou mayst behold,
When yellow leaves, or none, or few hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold.
YUM!
It’s sooo easy as well!
