We’re in the middle of basketball season. What is my history with basketball? Those who know me personally, know that I’m a tall woman. I reached my full height of 5’10” in high school (note the featured image). Therefore, our PE teachers presumed I could play basketball and assigned me as a center playing half-court ball.

Back then, women weren’t considered to be able to run a full-court scheme, so we were relegated to just half of the gym. Can you imagine getting away with that patronizing presumption today?!?! Such was the extent of my personal experience with basketball.

However, I did raise two very tall and athletic boys, 6’4″ and 6’5″, who were crazy about sports as participants and avid fans. Today, I thoroughly enjoy watching the Baylor men’s and women’s basketball teams, both ranked #1 respectively. I have season tickets for both teams.

I was sharing my enthusiasm for watching Baylor play with one of my Scottish cousins. She asked me the all-important question, “what do you Americans snack on when watching basketball?” Well, popcorn of course!

I have a recipe for “Crazy Good Popcorn” and that’s exactly what it is, crazy good!

Heat the syrup and sugar over medium heat until just boiling. If you live outside the U.S. and don’t have access to Karo White Syrup, Golden Syrup works just as well or better. Remove the pot of boiling syrup from the heat source and stir in peanut butter and vanilla. Immediately pour hot mixture over popped corn and toss with two forks until the popcorn is evenly coated. Enjoy!

Are you licking your fingers yet?

1/2 cup Karo white corn syrup

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup peanut butter

1 tsp vanilla

1 regular bag unflavored microwave popcorn
