While eating breakfast, I like to do the daily newspaper crossword. A clue today was “daystar.” My first thought was a Sci Fi name of a space ship, so I skipped over it. I’m not a movie buff, especially not Sci Fi! Hallmark movies are more my speed. I can keep my hands busy on some project or another and still follow the predictable story line.
Anyway, I was still stumped on that corner of the puzzle and asked my husband, Tim, for some suggestions. He promptly replied, “the sun.” Did I ever feel dumb! Picture that forehead slapping imoge. . . that was me!
Later in the day, I recollected that feeling again. Isn’t that how an answer to prayer works sometimes? It’s right in front of me; obvious, palpable, and luminous. I “forehead slap” again, laugh to myself, and am grateful. Obviously, I need more practice in naming God’s “daystar” affirmations in my life.
What “daystar” moments have you missed?
I call on you, my God, for you will answer me: turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
This entry reminded me of the time a friend told me, “Sometimes God has to hit me in the head with a brick.”
We try to make answers complicated.
