Some of you don’t have to wait as long as we do in Texas for that first cool snap to indulge in a mug of hot chocolate, the quintessential Christmas beverage. And why does it taste so much better from your favorite coffee shop than from your own home? Here’s the secret; I’m going to transform you into a hot chocolate barista armed with a no-fuss guaranteed to impress mug after yummy mug recipe.
In my family, we make a big deal about stockings. This hot chocolate mix is highly anticipated as a staple in the adult stockings. Or you can pick out one of those infamous teacher mugs, fill a small size ziplock bag with the Hug in a Mug mix, stuff it into the mug, tie a bow on the handle, and there you go; teacher gift is done! This will be one teacher gift not regifted!
Who gets your gift of a hug today?
1 1/2 lb. instant dry milk
12 oz plain dry coffee creamer (2 small jars)
2 1bs Nesquick
1 lb. powdered sugar (1 box or 1/2 a bag)
Optional: 1 bag mini marshmallows, 1 small bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
Toss and mix well all ingredients in large bowl and store in air-tight containers. For one large mug, use heaping 1/4 cup. Fancy up your steaming Hug in a Mug with a dollop of cream, peppermint or cinnamon stirring sticks, or add a tsp of instant coffee for a cappuccino treat.
Great start for the recipes! I remember making something like this in Beirut. Also a spiced tea mix.? Looking forward to keeping up with your blog.!
Hi,
Catherine has shared your blog with me and others. It’s beautiful, comforting and stirring–all at once. I use to have this recipe and made it regularly at Christmas when the kids were growing up. I must have misplaced it, but now I have it and have reason to make it again. (Not only to share with precious grandchildren, but for me and my husband and sometimes just for me.
