How about instead of concentrating on the outward facing image this new year, we focus on that which we are designed to be, a blessing. Yes, we are designed to be a “blessing” to others!
However, we cannot BE a blessing if we haven’t taken the time to “bless” ourselves by nourishing and growing the passion within. Personally, I know how easy it is to adulate status, celebrity, cachet, and security. I’m especially guilty of hunkering down, seeking quiet shelter, and being swaddled by safety.
It’s easy to elevate “the college degree plan” over passion instead of taking a fresh look at the degreed path itself when it doesn’t fit my passion. Often, I find myself discarding the pieces of my passion that don’t fit the proverbial, acceptable, societal path for my life.
I challenge you to be a person driven by your God-given passion, not by the outward, advertised dictates that daily warp our truly blessed and passionate purpose.
What is your passion, that thing that you do when no one is telling you what to do and you lose track of time doing it?
Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people, If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
