A Basket of Eggs
My daily egg harvest gives me so much joy! The whole undertaking of visiting my chickens every morning reminds me to grab the preciousness of each moment, to live in the present, and to pay attention. I’m reminded to not rush through a task, negatively dressing it as a chore to be checked off. Am I guilty of thinking, “what do I have to do next?”

Dividing Irises
I’m dividing and conquering iris bulbs today. Many gardeners don’t care for irises because they only bloom for a couple of months off and on. However, what a show they put on in the early spring when summer warmth is barely kissing the winter cold.

The Weight of a Mother’s Love
It’s been a few weeks since my sister’s passing. I receive phone calls daily from those loved ones who want to be reassured that I’m OK. Somedays I pour out my angst, rage, sadness, and tears. Other condolence sessions are not as verbose.

Chess Pie
Is your sweet-tooth craving demanding satisfaction but under these COVID-19 restrictions, you can’t run out to buy a treat and you don’t think you have the ingredients on hand to bake?

Prayer Cathedral
I come to the garden alone
while the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
the voice to me is calling.

September Garden Report Card
As educators, September is our month to evaluate what worked last year in our classrooms and what did not. I challenge you to transfer this same type of positive critique to your garden.

Holy Creativity
Share your creativity and watch it multiply, blessing others, inspiring them to access their own well of holy creativity waiting to be uncovered. Where does creativity come from?

Pie Crust
I realized in my my posting of recipes that I’ve not yet given a “how to”tutorial on making pie crust. My mom used to say that if we (her daughters) could make pie crust and cut up a chicken, we could cook anything!

Jonah
“Go now and denounce it for its wickedness stares me in the face!” Jonah 1:1-2
Have you ever been asked to do something by that still quiet voice inside of you? Maybe it was to ask forgiveness of someone. Maybe it was to go visit someone you’d slighted and been avoiding. Or maybe it was to do a job that you’d neglected.

My Sister Christine
My heart is broken with the grief in the loss of my sister, Christine, to lung cancer. So, I come to my back porch for solace.
