July Garden Checklist
I was reminded by one of my readers not to forget about the monthly garden checklist! I have to admit that I’ve been distracted with fulfilling another reader’s request to share recipes using fresh herbs. Please keep the suggestions and reminders coming!

Paradox Puzzle
The gentle breeze tickles my legs, ruffling my gauzy skirt while at the same time, ever so slightly, but rhythmically rocks me in my back porch swing. My two cats languidly stretch out on the adjacent daybed squinting at me in purring approval at my choice about joining them for a morning cup of tea.

Spaghetti Sauce with Fresh Vegetables and Herbs
This spaghetti sauce is the easiest recipe ever, I promise! It’s packed with flavor and hidden nutrition as well. You will need a crockpot and food processor to fast track the process. I’m all about ease and efficiency!

Together with Family Again
We recently took a road trip to see family. We crossed several states to see our grandchildren after a long stretch of absence this past year. I was giddy with anticipation as each mile marker whizzed by. We also had the-privilege of stopping at a halfway mark going and coming and visited my husband’s cousins, aunt, and uncle.

Fresh Herb Sauce, or Salsa Verde
Most of us here in the USA are grilling some sort of meats for the July 4th long weekend, whether it’s fish, kabobs, ribs, steaks, or burgers.

Then Sings My Soul
I woke up with a smile on my face today. I must have been dreaming in Arabic, because I was singing in Arabic in my unmusical head the old hymn, “How Great Thou Art.” As I’m sitting here still basking in the gentle reminder of who I am, I consider the circumstances under which the hymn’s author wrote these lyrics, especially while we are experiencing sudden summer storms ourselves.

Caprese Salad
The Texas summer thermometer is ooching up there into the 100s for afternoon highs. I don’t want to heat up the kitchen and cook, so Caprese salad is a favorite solution and it takes advantage of tomatoes and basil at their peak of freshness.

A Parent’s Touch
Someone once told me that having a child was like having your own heart walk around outside your body. When my children hurt, my heart absorbs that pain and I cry out in prayerful anguish.

Fattoush, the Second Most Popular Lebanese Salad Next to Tabbouleh
Fattoush is the quintessential Lebanese summer salad of fresh herbs, greens, cucumber , tomatoes, onions, and radishes topped with toasted crunchy pita bread croutons. My mouth is watering and the back of my tongues is tingling just thinking about it!

My Dad Mirrored in Me
I was talking to my publisher recently and she related to me how her Grandpa’s garden still holds her close. Then she went on to share with me about her grandpa, retelling a story of the two of them in his garden.
