I usually bake on impulse when I’m hankering for “sampan sampan,” or I’m down and need cheering up. Instead of a scented candle changing my mood, the aromas of baking definitely do the trick!
I have a collection of lovely utilitarian baskets for: drying, picnicking, fruit, seed storage, harvesting, and just general storage.
Amongst the terraced olive groves, pine-forested hills, and craggy rock outcrops of my childhood, I had many choice “secret gardens” to which I retreated to read or just be alone. Alone-time was quite scarce in our bustling home.
I’m a bit angry today and letting it out on page.

Worldwide, we are collectively trying to survive extreme weather patterns. Here in Central Texas, not only have we experienced the hottest and driest July on record with no rain and 103 degree average high temperatures, but we also are under severe watering restrictions.Day after endless day, I’m suffocating physically and emotionally. Will this ever end?!?
